Chapter Eight

As the last tingle of pleasure finally subsided, Aidric realized two things. First, it had been far too long since he’d allowed himself to be intimate with another being. The closeness and peace that physically sharing his body with another brought him was a feeling he’d long forgotten, one that he’d deserved to have more of in his life.

The second thing he realized was that letting Peri return to the mainframe was going to be harder than he’d first anticipated.

He found it difficult to look away from the places where they touched, the contrast of his lighter skin to her blue. Light and dark, a visual representation of the binary code that drove her programming. She was more than the sum of her parts, but she was also going to leave him soon, returning to her digital existence.

While they might not have much time together here, Aidric wanted to take advantage of these moments where and when he could.

Brushing a strand of her hair stuck to her face, he met her gaze and smiled. “Are you okay?”

“I…” She swallowed before nodding. “I should be asking you that. I bit you.”

The pain in his shoulder was already dulling as the nanobots in his body went to work healing the wound. “I shouldn’t be surprised, even though I am. It’s a common reaction the Fallen have to their mates the first time they have sex. I’d assumed it was related to their sudden connection. Clearly, there’s more to it than that.” That the matrix was clearly amplifying this aspect of their relationships needed to be explored when time allowed.

Peri shuddered, her internal muscles clenching around his softening cock. “I believe this body is still feeling the aftereffects of its orgasm.”

“You should refer to it as your body.” He leaned in and placed a kiss close to a similar spot where she’d bit him. “We don’t want anyone to suspect you’re not who they think you are.”

“Yes. Of course.” There was a strange note to her voice as she gently pressed against his chest. “Rykal is on his way back.”

The last thing Aidric wanted was for his brother to see him naked and vulnerable. “Tell him to take his time.”

Peri’s face darkened from a blush. “I’d rather not give him any indication of what we’ve done. He already thinks I’m far too protective of you and he’d see this as more evidence that I’m too…attached.”

There wasn’t any way Aidric could deny that while Peri was little more than code in the mainframe, he’d been amused at the thought of the AI having a crush on him. But having her here in flesh and blood, he realized that she wasn’t the only one who’d grown attached. If there was a way for her to stay in this body and not have her code degrade or leave the station exposed and vulnerable to attack, Aidric knew he’d want her to take it.

For once in his life, he wanted to be selfish. Wanted something for himself and frak anyone who tried to stop him.
